A Sample Bible Study Day

I know I like a visual for how a study time can look. I hope you've watched through the previous lectures so you have some ideas for remaining consistent this year! As I have mentioned, I recommend 2-3 days a week of deeper study time with the other days being reading/listening and time in prayer.

Deeper study days: 30-45 minutes.

Light days: 15-20 minutes.

In this video, I'll show you what a deeper study day would look like for me as an auditory/kinesthetic learner.

My process is:

  • Set my reading intention: why am I reading?
  • Preview the text
  • Read the chapters through once
  • Choose a section to go deeper and take notes
  • Note the 5Ws and H; follow cross references
  • Draw out the theological principle about God
  • Spend time in prayer
  • Pick a podcast or video for later that day

A sample week might be:

  • Monday: deep study day; read the passage, take notes, watch a video/listen to a podcast, write out prayer.
  • Tuesday: light study day; listen on audio while walking, listen to a podcast later in the day.
  • Wednesday: deep study day; read, take notes, pray for 10 minutes, read an article from the lectures.
  • Thursday: light study day; listen on audio while reading the passage.
  • Friday: light study day; read the passage, take some notes, and write out prayer time.
  • Saturday: deep study day: read, take notes, pray, and watch a video from the lecture.

Regardless of what you do that day, check in on the lecture with DONE! at the end of the week and check in daily in the Facebook group to say you've done your day's reading and share what you've learned!
